SUMMARY:Tron Marathon Rhino - Vray
DESCRIPTION:Tron Marathon Rhino – Vray\nTron Marathon Rhino – Vray is a 2 day (16-hour) event – Rhino marathon workshop consisting of two consecutive parts\, an 8-hour speed-modeling tutorial and an 8-hour V-ray rendering tutorial of the interior of Flynn’s hideout from the movie Tron Legacy. \nThis course (Tron Marathon Rhino – Vray) is designed for everyone who is interested in gaining basic modeling skills\, with a focus on preparing a professional level interior rendering scene\, in a quite tight time schedule! Students follow a linear process from draft\, to modeling in Rhino 3D\, to photorealistic rendering in Vray\, to post-production in Photoshop. Information will flow in an accelerated pace so familiarity with any CAD program  is considered necessary for attendance. That being said\, the overall process will be close enough to the beginner level so that even people who have only worked with 2D CAD programs so far will be easily able to follow. \n\nCourse Schedule\n \n\n\n\nPart 1\nTopic: Modeling in Rhino5\n\n\n10:00-11:00\nIntroduction\, Rhino interface\, panning & zooming\n\n\n\nLayers / Object Properties / Basic design commands\n\n\n11:00-13:00\nCreating geometry (Starting Flynn’s Hideout interior)\n\n\n\nModeling with solids\, Extrusions and Boolean operations\,\n\n\n13:00 -16:00\nSurfacing and model editing (Modeling pieces of furniture)Paneling\, Splitting and joining\, Control point editing\, Nurb geometry manipulation\,\n\n\n16:00 -18:00\nDetailing and Finishing a scene (completing ready-for-render model) Import/export\, setting up named views\, printing wireframes\, viewport customization.\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n Part 2\n Topic: Rendering in Vray for Rhino\n\n\n10:00- 11:00\nUnderstanding Lighting basics / Introduction to Vray Renderer for Rhino / Vray default Settings\n\n\n11:00AM-12:00\nMaterial Editor / Reflections – Refractions – Caustics / Bump Maps / Assigning materials to model\n\n\n12:00-14:00\n/ Mapping Coordinates / Using Lights / Draft Renders\n\n\n14:00-16:00\nVray Settings – finalizing the scene / Final Rendering setup\n\n\n16:00 -18:00\nPostproduction in Photoshop\n\n\n\n\nRequirements\nAll participants should consider the following: \n\ndecode™ provides workstation PCs on demand for students who request so\, but you can still bring your own laptop should you prefer to do so.\nIn case you decide to work via your personal laptop then you need to have:\n\nRhinoceros3d V5.0 installed. You can download an evaluation version from http://www.rhino3d.com/\nVray 2.0 for Rhino 5.0 installed. You can download a demo version from http://www.chaosgroup.com\n\n\nBe at decode™ at least 15min before the workshop start hour.\nHave lots of patience and positive thinking\, learning is fun after all!

SUMMARY:Taxonomies Dendroids Rhino+Gh
DESCRIPTION:In this 3-day introductory Rhino+Gh research cluster you will look into fundamental 3D-printable geometries via learning and comprehending basic grasshopper and rhino techniques. You’ll go through basic 3D modeling skills and various grasshopper definitions\, in order to design different versions/mutations of a single yet fundamental form\, describing an object or an architectural detail\, that are eventually going to be 3d printed at decode fab lab. \nIn detail\, this research cluster looks into different versions-mutations of a fundamental form\, describing an object or an architectural detail\, that are going to be 3d printed. Also 3d printing technique tricks and tips are scheduled\, along with the demonstration of a CubeXDuo 3D printer. The cluster focuses on meshes\, stl preparation\, and beyond the use of Rhino and Grasshopper it utilizes the plugins Weaverbird(Giulio Piacentino) and Mesh+ (David Mans). \nEach taxonomy that is going to be 3d designed\, printed as result of this cluster will be collectively published in the near future. \nUpcoming Scheduled Days:

SUMMARY:Dragonfly Bubbleship Rhino Level 2
DESCRIPTION:Dragonfly Bubbleship Rhino Level 2\nThis course is for anyone familiar with Rhino 5 basics (level1). Recognized as an official intermediate course for Rhino 5 all trainees receive an official McNeel Rhino Level 2 Certificate on completion. Each student receives the official courseware and support material as part of attending this course \n  \nIn detail\, during the course by modeling as a test-case the Bubble-shop from the film ‘oblivion’ you will learn to create and edit accurate free form 3d NURBS models\, analyzing surface properties as you go so that you can cope with high difficulty non-standard forms. This fast-moving class covers most of Rhino’s advanced surfacing commands\, as well as techniques to formulate a productive workflow. You will subsequently learn how to photorealistically render your model with McNeel’s Flamingo nXt and post-process your work to a presentation level. \n  \n  \nUpcoming Scheduled Days:\n

SUMMARY:Nakagin Capsule Tower - Rhino L.1
DESCRIPTION:Nakagin Capsule Tower – Rhino Level 1\nThis course is for anyone new to Rhino 5. Recognized as an official introductory course\, all trainees receive an Official McNeel Rhino level 1 Certificate upon completion. In this training course you will learn to create and edit accurate free form 3d NURBS models. This fast-moving class covers most of Rhino’s functionality\, including the most advanced surfacing commands. You will systematically move through the user interface\, command access\, creation and editing of curves\, surfaces and solids.\nThe course is intensive (16hrs) and spans two consecutive days (10:00 to 18:00). Each trainee receives the official 260 page courseware as part of attending this course. \n  \n \n  \nCase Study\nAt decode™ effective training is achieved via an intriguing goal by contrast of generic exercises. All the Rhino level 1 teaching material will be taught by modeling the Nakagin Capsule Tower\, built by Kisho Kurokawa in 1972 at Shimbashi\, Tokyo\, Japan. In a step by step modeling way each student will be guided through the experience of completing a challenging and interesting design project\, and managing to use commands in synergy through various techniques. \n  \n \n  \nExpected Outcomes\n  \nAfter this course (Nakagin Capsule Tower – Rhino L.1) the student is expected to be able to: \n\nMove comfortably around the Rhino modelling\nIdentify when free form or precision modelling is required\nCreate and edit curves\, surfaces\, and solids\nUse modelling aids for accuracy\nProduce simple renderings of the Rhino models\n\n  \nTarget Audience\n  \nThis course (Nakagin Capsule Tower – Rhino L.1) is for the design professional who wants to efficiently learn the concepts and features of the Rhinoceros modelling software at an accelerated pace in an instructor-led environment. \n  \nPre-requisites\nRequires Windows skills and desire to model.
